Preparation

  • Combine warm milk and active dry yeast in a medium bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture and stir until a sticky dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

Rolling and Shaping

  • After rising, roll the dough into a rectangle and fold it into thirds.
  • Roll it out again and repeat the folding 2-3 times.
  • Cut the rolled dough into triangles and roll them into crescent shapes.

Final Steps and Baking

  • Place the shaped croissants on baking sheets lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Brush the croissants with egg wash.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
