  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Fresh is preferred for best flavor.
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley Adds freshness to the meatballs.
  • 1 large egg Can be substituted with a flaxseed mixture for a vegan option (2.5 tablespoons water with 1 tablespoon flaxseed).
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Watch that it doesn’t burn in the oven.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor; adjust according to taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Can substitute with red pepper flakes for spice.
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded Added at the end for cheesy topping.
  • 1 jar marinara sauce Use low-sugar or homemade version.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix well using your hands.
  • Roll the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  • Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake the meatballs in the oven for about 15-20 minutes until they are cooked through and browned.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top of each meatball and return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve the meatballs with marinara sauce on the side.

Notes

Let the meatballs rest for 10 minutes before baking for juicier results. Avoid overmixing to prevent dense meatballs.
