  • 1/2 cup brown sugar For caramelizing on top.
  • Butter for greasing Use real butter for flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  • Cut the bread into thick slices and arrange them snugly in the baking dish.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
  • Pour the mixture over the bread, ensuring each slice is well soaked.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight for best results.

Baking

  • Before baking, sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the top of the bread.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden and the custard is set.
